SUNY Empire State University has awarded its Request for Proposal (RFP) #ESU-20346041 for a syllabus platform to Simple Higher Ed. The award follows a competitive evaluation process to identify a solution that can meet the university’s requirements for syllabus creation and management, technical integrations, and digital accessibility. Empire State University has become the third SUNY institution to adopt the Simple Syllabus platform.
Evaluation Process
The RFP was issued with detailed criteria for a syllabus solution. Key requirements included a centralized platform for syllabus creation and storage, technical integrations with D2L Brightspace and Ellucian Banner, adherence to ADA and web content accessibility guidelines, and access to ongoing platform support.
After evaluating vendor proposals, the university selected Simple Syllabus as the solution best aligned with its institutional needs. The platform met all essential requirements, with robust integration options and an official partnership with D2L Brightspace.
Simple Syllabus will make it easier for Empire State University faculty to manage and share course information while giving students a more consistent and accessible experience across their courses. Empire State University is moving forward with implementation of Simple Syllabus right away. The project will focus on integrating the platform with D2L Brightspace, creating consistent syllabus templates, and assisting faculty to become familiarized with the platform.
Simple Higher Ed and the Empire State University will collaborate closely during implementation, prioritizing faculty support and platform refinements based on real-time feedback. The plan is to have faculty familiarized with the platform as soon as the upcoming academic term, providing students with prompt access to important course information.
