Feb 24, 2026

Simple Higher Ed today announced the release of its new LMS accessibility scanner, a built-in capability within Simple Prep that helps institutions review LMS accessibility at scale. Included with Simple Prep at no additional cost, the scanner enables colleges and universities to identify common accessibility issues across courses and view results in one clear, course-level interface.

Simple Prep’s LMS accessibility scanner consolidates key accessibility findings into a single course view so teams can quickly understand what needs attention, where it lives, and what to prioritize across the LMS. The scanner supports major learning management systems, including Canvas, Brightspace, and Blackboard, helping institutions apply a consistent review approach regardless of where courses are built and delivered.

Institutions aren’t short on commitment to accessibility. They’re up against fragmented work across thousands of courses. We built the LMS Accessibility Scanner to make review practical and affordable at scale, so teams can see what’s happening, focus support where it matters most, and do it in Simple Prep at no added cost.

Wes Miller, CEO of Simple Higher Ed

Designed to be simple and approachable, the scanner presents findings in plain language with clear labeling and grouping so non-technical reviewers can interpret results quickly. From that same interface, teams can jump directly to the exact item and location associated with each finding, reducing time spent searching through course content and enabling faster follow-through.

The LMS accessibility scanner extends Simple Prep’s broader focus on course readiness by helping institutions incorporate accessibility checks into the same workflow used to prepare courses for students. By giving leadership and support teams a course-level snapshot across the LMS, the feature helps institutions move from reactive fixes to a more consistent, repeatable review process.

Simple Higher Ed serves more than 500 colleges and universities with solutions designed to improve consistency, efficiency, and student experience across digital learning environments. The LMS accessibility scanner will be rolling out in the coming weeks to Simple Prep customers.
