The University of Alberta has awarded its Request for Proposal (RFP) No. 2023-0100 for syllabus management software to Simple Syllabus. The reward follows a competitive evaluation process to identify a system that empowers instructors, improves communication, supports efficient workflows, and enhances the learning experience.
Evaluation Process
The RFP established detailed criteria for syllabus management software. Primary requirements included a centralized platform for syllabus creation, enhanced accessibility, the ability to establish standardized syllabus templates, and facilitate collaboration among instructors.
After an evaluation of all proposals, Simple Syllabus was chosen as the solution that best corresponded with the university’s requirements. The system satisfied all necessary criteria and provided demonstrations of successful implementations at other higher education institutions.

Implementation of Simple Syllabus at the University of Alberta will begin right away. The project will center on establishing templates for syllabi across academic departments, and assisting faculty to become familiarized with the platform. The project is designed to ensure that every course syllabus is consistent, accessible, and compliant with institutional and accreditation standards.
Simple Syllabus will collaborate closely with the University of Alberta during their project launch to provide faculty support, gather feedback, and make modifications as necessary. The objective is to have faculty utilizing the platform as soon as the next academic term, in order to provide students with prompt access to their course information.
