The Virginia Community College System has awarded its Request for Proposal (RFP) VCCS-WIDE-23-1255 for a syllabus management tool to Simple Syllabus.
This award was received after a competitive evaluation process to identify a platform that successfully meets the college system’s requirements for faculty usage, technical integrations and accessibility.
Evaluation Process
The RFP outlined detailed requirements for a syllabus management tool, including integrations with both Instructure Canvas and Oracle Peoplesoft, the ability for faculty to create personalized syllabus templates, data reporting tools, and the ability to publish, store and export syllabi from a centralized location.
Following a review of proposals, Simple Syllabus was selected as the platform that best aligns with the college system’s needs. The platform has proven to meet all of the required specifications, as evidenced through successful implementations at other higher education institutions.

Implementation of Simple Syllabus will begin immediately for VCCS institutions, with a focus on integrating the platform with Canvas, and establishing syllabus templates for each institution. The implementation is structured to ensure that every course syllabus is accessible, consistent, and aligns with both institutional and accreditation requirements.
Simple Syllabus will collaborate with institutions of the VCCS throughout their launch to offer support, gather faculty input, and make modifications as needed. The goal is for institutions to have access to the platform as soon as the upcoming academic term, providing students with prompt access to current course details.
